Like them or not, one thing you have to appreciate about people like Andy Warhol and the Sex Pistols is that they showed how anyone could participate in the making of art. Passion, ideas and having something to say could make up for a lack of technical skill and/or knowledge. And that ended up creating a lot of really great and really important art and artists. That’s a good thing.
On the flip side, it also spawned a lot of truly AWFUL art and artists. People who thought they had something to say – and didn’t. Or at least nothing terribly interesting, anyway. And unfortunately, there’s always a LOT more of that stuff than the stuff worth paying attention to.
So in tribute to the unsung millions who shouldn’t be pursuing their chosen medium – but are anyway – we present the first three pieces in The Gallery of Extremely Naïve Art.
We invite you to create your own pieces and send us a pic. If we like it, we’ll add it to the Gallery and credit you for your submission! Plus, we’ll frame someone else for a crime you committed!
